About this Workshop Series

Across four 3-hour classes, participants will explore how early attachment experiences shape internal parts, how protectors develop in response to relational wounds, and how Self-energy can facilitate profound healing and secure internal attachment. 

Through a mix of lecture, guided meditations, experiential activities and group processing, you'll walk away with practical tools to support your own growth and your clinical work

Class 1: Foundations of Attachment and IFS

Mapping the Terrain - How Attachment and Parts Shape Our Inner and Relational Worlds

Objectives:
  • introduction of basic principles of attachment theory

  • introduction of core concepts of IFS (Self, Parts, Exiles, and Protectors)

  • exploration of the overlap between attachment styles and protector strategies
Class 2: Protectors & Attachment Adaptations

How Parts Learn to Protect Us in Attachment Relationships

Objectives:
  • understand how protectors mimic or respond to early attachment environments
  • learn to identify manager and firefighter strategies in clients with insecure attachment
  • explore the survival logic behind early adaptations
Class 3: Exiles & Attachment Wounds

Meeting the Child Within - Healing Early Wounds with Self Energy

Objectives:
  • understand how attachment ruptures lead to exiled parts
  • deepen ability to hold space for shame, grief, fear, and longing carried by exiles
  • explore how Self energy creates a reparative attachment experience

From Protection to Connection - Cultivating Secure Attachment from the Inside Out

  MEET THE FACILITATOR  

Leslie Petruk

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Lead IFS Trainer
Approved IFS Consultant

Leslie is a Director at The Stone Center for Counseling & Leadership and a Clinical Supervisor. She has worked as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor since 1996. Her clinical experience includes working with children, individuals, couples and families using a systemic approach and she is a Certified IFS therapist and a graduate of the Castellino Foundation training.

Her “4 Kids Sake Parenting Programs” were developed to assist parents with the various challenges they face in dealing with each developmental stage and to facilitate cooperative co-parenting when families are going through a divorce or separation.

Prior to moving to Charlotte in 2001, Leslie maintained a private practice in Austin, Texas. Her specialized training as a play therapist and marriage and family therapist serve her well in her focus with children, couples and individuals who are dealing with grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment and relational issues.

Additionally, she works with special needs children and their families, children and families experiencing divorce, and children with behavioral issues in school, for which she provides parenting consultation, coaching and school observation/remediation services. Leslie conducts parenting workshops, marriage seminars and presentations related to these and other issues.

Leslie is also a Board Certified Coach and offers life coaching services. She specializes in coaching working mothers who seek to find their passion, live more fully, decrease their stress and overwhelm and increase their life fulfillment. Leslie is available to conduct workshops and seminars to your group, company or organization related to increasing productivity, teamwork, leadership skills, and managing work and life (she believes work/life balance is a myth).
